Back in the UK

We arrived back in England early Tuesday morning and have been catching up on life and getting over jet lag since then. It feels great to be back! (Although it is cloudy, drizzly, and in the 60s, brrrrr!) We had a fantastic trip to the States this summer and the next few blog posts will be about our time spent there. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are back safely and getting prepared for the new term. :)

The Thompson Family Visit

Over the last month we have had a lot of visitors! The first visitors were the Thompsons and we were so happy to see them. They arrived on a Monday and we showed them around the city and had dinner at a pub close to our house, The Country Girl. They took a day trip to Oxford while we worked and then they came to Canvas for the last Tuesday night of the term. It was great to have them there! On Wednesday they went to Cadbury World while we worked and loaded up on chocolate. :) On Thursday morning we left at 5:50am for London. We spent two days in London doing lots of fun touristy stuff. We saw the changing of the guard and did the bus tour again. We visited the Churchill War Rooms and the Imperial War Museum, both of which were excellent. We rode the London Eye and climbed St. Paul's cathedral to the top. We spent two days going non-stop and had perfect weather! We got home late Friday night and crashed after a great trip.

On Saturday, we went to Warwick Castle and had a great time. It was sunny and warm and we spent most of the day at the castle seeing all there is to see. Then we grilled burgers for dinner at home. We left early the next morning to take Mom and Dad T to the airport in Manchester. After we dropped them off, we hung out in Manchester with David and Kristi for the afternoon. That night we went to a favorite curry place of ours called The Red Lion and introduced them to curry. Yum! Kristi left the next morning and David stayed with us for another two weeks.

It was so fun to have family visit. We loved for them to be able to see our life here in England and to get to do some touristy stuff too. Here are a few photos from the trip. For more photos, check out Facebook!
